Beginning. The company was founded in 1911, among others by Louis Chevrolet, a race driver, and William Durant, founder of General Motors, who left him in 1910. Six years later, Chevrolet has become profitable and Durant bought a majority stake in GM and took over the reins of the company. Chevrolet was then switched to GM.

Development. General Motors' expansion in Europe in the interwar period led to the establishment of the first branch of the Chevrolet brand in Europe. This took place in 1923 in Copenhagen. The next countries in Europe where the brand had established the Nordic countries, the Baltic States, Germany, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. In 1928, Warsaw was launched first GM car assembly plant. The opening ceremony took place on September 10, 1928 and this date can be officially recognized as the beginning of GM's operations in Poland. With the assembly plant also appeared first cars. The Cold War led to the withdrawal of Polish Chevrolet. Chevrolet had a great influence on the American automobile market in the fifties and sixties. In 1963, one out of ten cars sold in the United States came down the production line Chevrolet.

Today. In 2004, GM Daewoo began selling cars under the Chevrolet brand in some Eastern European countries because of the lack of rights for Daewoo brand in these countries (including Poland). In the same year GM bought Daewoo plants with FSO in Warsaw's Zeran. Resumed production of Chevrolet models - the former Daewoo models. Cars were exported to many countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Then the position of the Chevrolet brand in the world slightly declined - due to lower sales of General Motors in the U.S. market and more competition.
