Beginning. Spanish car maker SEAT launched on 9 May 1950. One of the founders of the brand was the Italian company Fiat. What right had only seven per cent of the Seacie, but granted a license for the first car. It was a model 1400. The car was produced from 1953.

Development. Seat the years passed numerous modifications. A breakthrough year was 1980, when Fiat sold its shares National Institute of Industry. Thus Seat became the first entirely Spanish car manufacturer. In the mid-80s German concern Volkswagen bought a 51 percent stake in the Spanish company. The first joint effort was one of the most popular models of SEAT - Ibiza. The car was through the cooperation of Porsche, the German company Karmann and Italian design company design - Giugiaro. Another model was Malaga, which became the dream of Spanish families. In 1990, Volkswagen became the owner of 99.99% of the shares in the brand Seat. Today. Since the beginning of the 90's Seat was promoted as a sports brand in the Volkswagen Group. But the company is not limited only to the image. The resulting new models: large Toledo, Cordoba sedan and minivan Alhambra. The last car was developed in partnership with Ford. In 1999 he presented a compact Seat Leon. This model was used for the first time engine with 180 hp and four-wheel drive. Today, nearly all SEAT models are available in sporting versions Cupra R and FR. The most common concern is the Ibiza model, which produced four million copies. Since the beginning of the millennium Seat consistently working on the car manufacturer's reputation for high quality, with a sporty image and offered at reasonable prices. For 2000, the company produced up to five hundred thousand cars a year. In 2006, the production line went 16-millionth SEAT.

Trivia. In 1996 and 1997 Seat Ibiza won the World Rally Championship WRC cars in the category of two-liter engine.
